Saint Peter Church of God by Faith in Jesus Christ was established in 1944. In March of that year, Mother Lillie B Bethea was diagnosed with an incurable disease by her physician. In sincere prayer to God, Mother was healed and saved. She courageously embarked on a Christian journey of salvation  whereas many people turned their lives to God.  Under her anointed ministry, her grandson John Mark NeSmith II was saved and baptized. In 1975, John Mark was anointed to be a apostle/pastor of the church.  He worked diligently teaching and preaching the word of God until his demise in 1980.  Mother Bethea reassumed her role as leader until her demise in 1989.  

Prior to 1989, Pastor Annie L Bethay received her first and second anointing as leader by Founder/Mother Lillie Bethea and Apostle J NeSmith II, respectfully. Her third anointing was given in 1991 by Elder J Brinson. As a dedicated servant of the Lord, Pastor Bethay is continuing the work of the late Pastor/Founder Lillie B Bethea. She continues to provide food, clothing, and shelter for the needy in the community.
